About the Tool —

To provide businesses across the dental industry with the information necessary to grow, create jobs, and operate sustainably the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) has developed the ADIA Geospatial Dental Market Analysis Tool. This interactive mapping tool available exclusively to ADIA members provides new insights into the changing nature of the market for dental products and services.

Provided to the industry in a geographical format for the first time, this tool helps businesses plan their marketing and sales activities more effectively than has been possible in the past. It removes the guesswork associated as to where to focus on-the-ground product marketing and promotional activities. Currently, the map contains the following information displayed in a geographical format for the first time:

• Number of dentists in total and per 1,000 people
• Number of oral-maxillofacial surgeons in total and per 1,000 people
• Number of orthodontists in total and per 1,000 people
• Number of prosthetists in total and per 1,000 people
• Number of oral health therapists in total and per 1,000 people
• Number of dental health therapists in total and per 1,000 people

Over the coming twelve months the tool will be expanded to allow dental product manufacturers and suppliers to identify increases/decreases in each of these professional groupings, providing valuable insights into where new business opportunities exist. Further enhancements that are planned include the location of CBCT/CBVT digital imaging equipment and even the location of dental practices by postcode.
